Below is just one of the many routes designed to get you out of your dialing code and into the splendour of what majestic Africa has to offer... right outside your doorstep!
This comfortable 3 day journey ex Cape Town or surrounds takes the N1 towards Jozi. Along the way there are a number good stops namely the first farm stall on the other side of Worcester called Tweevlei. Here you can get a good coffee, good wine from local winery across the road and snacks to get you to Matjiesfontein. In Matjies a trip to the local bar and a walk through the car museum are recommended. From Matjies the real trip begins on the road to Sutherland. Once you leaved the highway you can genuinely feel the relief and the worry drain out of your veins. The road is windy for starters and then evens out to a steep Verlatenkloof Pass. Once on top you are basically there.

We recommend you stay at The White House which is a real treat and slightly left of centre Lodge and Backpackers. If full we shall recommend sister establishments. Peak to Clint on 023 5711444. In Sutherland besides the stars on clear days and some great architecture and silence there is a museum a volcano and some great scenery. A game of golf at our strange course is also something to be done at least once in ones lifetime.

A night under the stars and the White House roof should settle you before the next part of the journey to Planet Karoo. It takes you on good dirt roads 200kms across some of the best landscapes in SA. It takes you down the breath taking Ou Berg Pass I into the Tankwa and then along the Swartruggens Range to Planet Karoo. You are now 200kms from Cape Town. The entire trip is 740kms and something you will not tire of. The space, the stars and the magic of being alone is priceless.
